The French officer is a character who appears in the first chapter of Valiant Hearts: The Great War.
Valiant Hearts: The Great War[]
The officer first appears in the Saint Mihiel barracks on August 13th, where he is seen with most of the soldiers during their training.
He oversees the training of the new recruits, amongst them Emile. The officer instructs Emile on how to use a rifle to beat dummies and also teaches him the use of grenades. After he completes the course, the officer gives Emile the duty of raising the flag.
On August 21st, the officer takes part in the Battle of The Marne, where he commands his soldiers on top of a hill, planning a direct charge against the Germans and has Emile carry the flag into battle. He blows his whistle to signal the charge and rushes towards the enemy with his men. They come under heavy fire by German ordinance, and when they reach the valley, he is killed when he is struck by an artillery shell.
